Some Thoughts on Masters

I had been looking through some of my older posts and realized that while I have thought of this subject often, I have never posted anything on the topic... So here is a some of my thoughts on Masters.

Matthew 23:7-12 “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi,’ for One is your Teacher, the Messiah, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth your father, for One is your Father, He who is in the heavens. Neither be called leaders, for One is your Leader, the Messiah. But the greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."

-Yahshua is telling the Believers that men are created equal in the sight of YHWH, "...you are all brothers."

-YHWH's plan from the beginning was that He would be our teacher, through the Ruach (Holy Spirit) and through Yahshua (as the living Torah/Word). This can be seen throughout the entirety of Scripture.

-Did you know that the English word “Master” is derived from an ancient root word meaning “great”? 1 Or that the titles of “Mr.”, “Mrs.”, Ms.”, Etc, are all variations of this title?

-We are to call no man "master" because that would be making that person higher than others in status, and thus equal with YHWH. If YHWH is to be our teacher and provider, and we give that position to a man, we are essentially saying that that person is equal to YHWH in position and in authority over us. Scripture says, in Matthew 19:17 that there is "none good but one- YHWH." Thus there is no man better or higher than another, because we have "all sinned and fall short of the glory of YHWH." (Rom. 3:23)

-YHWH is our creator, and the one who gives us life- something that no man can do. While we may share a man's DNA, he is not ultimately the one who gives us breath to live, or true life through Messiah. YHWH is our Father, the author of our lives. There is none like Him in all the earth.
