Simple Woman's Daybook 8-9-12

I've seen these around, and always thought it was a neat idea, but never did one. Until now. I just felt like trying something new today. So, we'll try it and see what happens. :-) Here goes...

Outside my window...

Duckies playing in their little "pond" under the shade tree, which my younger brother dug out for them. The setup is quite ingenious, actually.

I am thinking...

That I'm grateful for the pile of tomatoes that we put up this week, but am really glad that Shabbat is tomorrow so that I don't have to stand in the kitchen all day. If their pond wasn't so full of muck, I would probably go join the ducks for a bit...

I am thankful...

For the rain we recieved last night. It was desperately needed.

In the kitchen...

Is a counter-full of jars, which are waiting their turn to be put washed and put downstairs. It's amazing how difficult it is to scrape off dried Clear-jel.

I am wearing...

A short-sleeved salmon-colored shirt from Walmart, under a hand-me-down no-sleeved yellow floral shirt, with a pair of cut-offs made from hand-me-down jeans. I just noticed that the paint stains on the shorts just happen to match the colors in my shirt... In my hair is a pretty Dragonfly clip from Lilla~Rose. It's simple, practical, and feminine. I love it.

I am wondering...

What it's like to be stuck in Antarctica for the winter. (Random thought, but it was in the news, so...)

I am reading...

Apollyon Rising 2012 by Thomas Horn, on my Kindle. The content is not overly surprising, and actually very interesting. His research ties together, and makes clearer, some of the things that I had already known of or suspected. The subject material makes for interesting family discussions.

I am hoping...

That maybe I'll finish this mug of coffee before it gets cold again. (I have a habit of getting busy and then not drinking it until it's cold. Then I have to reheat it and start all over again. Eventually I'll get it finished, though.)

I am looking forward to...
A time when Mom's back pain doesn't incapacitate her.

I am learning...

To give my concerns and dreams to YHWH, and trust Him to take care of it. The burdens aren't so heavy when you let someone else carry them...

Around the house...
We're all busy putting stuff away, basically just getting the house cleaned up and ready for Shabbat.

A favorite quote for today...

"Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there." - Will Rogers

One of my favorite things...

Sitting next to a campfire after everyone else has gone to bed, and letting Extra Dark Chocolate melt in my mouth while I'm watching the stars go by.

A peek into my day...
This is a sight I have looked at most of this week, and it's finally gone... Beginning after we pick tonight, I'll get to look at a new pile instead. :-) That's a 4x9 foot table, with two-thirds of the length covered in tomatoes.

  4. I learned about your blog from someone you know (I forget her relation to you, sorry), She said you are about my age and that I would really enjoy knowing and reading your blog. And she was right! it is so refreshing to hear the passion for the things of YHWY in someone my own age.
