The Only Inheritance Worth Having

Is the one we gain from above...

1 Peter 1:3-4 says, "Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Master Yahshua Messiah, who according to His great compassion has caused us to be born again to a living expectation through the resurrection of Messiah from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, having been kept in the heavens for you..."

This is the primary inheritance given by Jacob to his sons in last week's portion, as well as by David to Solomon. Both men were men of great wealth, both physically and spiritually. But rather than put enphasis on who gets what, they left their sons with both the greatest charge and blessing they could instill in their children.
Genesis 48:21-22 "And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers. Moreover I have given to thee Shekem, one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow."
Genesis 49:1-2 "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father."
Genesis 49:22-26 "Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty El of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel) Even by the Elohim of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren."

Genesis 49:28 "All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them."

1Kings 2:1-4 "Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; And keep the charge of YHWH thy Elohim, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: That YHWH may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee a man on the throne of Israel."

Guard the covenant, walk with YHWH, bear the witness of Messiah, and you will prosper above all others. Through your faith you will gain "...an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, having been kept in the heavens for you... Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

What better inheritance can we be given?
