The Essence of Life

This is a presentation I did for a small group this last week, for Sukkoth. Thought I'd share. Let me know what you think. Also, check out the FB page for my essential oils business, as I share interesting and useful graphics and information from those who know. Thanks for following this venture of mine! :-)

Some of you know me, others maybe not. I am a distributor of Young Living Essential Oils. I use the oils and can honestly say, without overstating, that these products have changed my family’s life, which is why I have decided to share them with other people. So, Victor and Mary Kay invited me to speak about the essential oils, what they are, why they’re important.

I do have a specific presentation on the oils, but the information is based on how I use the oils, and have found them to work for my family, and others who have found benefit from them. However, I don’t feel comfortable giving that particular presentation right now, because Young Living, as well as several other companies, is under legal attack by the FDA. These companies are all distributing a high-quality natural means of aiding our body systems; however, the federal agencies are severely cracking down on anything which promotes healing outside of the government’s patented cures for their patented diseases.

So what I would like to give you is a message which, while greatly significant and dear to my heart in and of itself, also acts as an analogy, in expressing the immense power of these essential oils that the Father has provided for us.

I will be here for a while this afternoon, so if you have any questions, or would like to talk more particularly about how the oils can be helpful to you, then please feel free to come speak with me. I also have some materials here on the table which can be of good use.

What I want to share with you has been something weighing on me recently, and I think it is important. Because I would be remiss to walk away from here today having not told you about the most essential oil. See, where Essential Oils are the life blood of the plant, the essence, of the plant, Yeshua is the essence of our faith. I think in a lot of ways we’ve forgotten this, and need to be reminded.

In an herb, all the parts work together to benefit the whole. The roots, leaves, stem, seed, they all have a part in gathering water and nutrients, to sustain the plant and make it grow. But none of this would matter if there were nothing to carry the nutrients throughout the plant. When distilled and concentrated, this is called essential oil. (It’s why lavender smells good, or poison ivy makes a rash; it’s the oil of the plant that makes the difference.) The entire usefulness of the plant can be summed up in the oil which flows through its veins. Everything comes back to and makes it possible to store or pull this essential flow through the farthest reaches of the plant.

Just as the Oil is the essence of a plant, the Messiah is the sum of our faith. Scripture is important, yes. Faith, obedience, evangelism, study, instruction, righteousness- it’s all important. But it’s not the point. It’s not how good we are that’s going to make a difference. No matter what path you take, which variation you choose to follow; if your goal and purpose in life is not set on the perfect Lamb of God, then you’re missing the mark. He’s the whole point of your belief. Everything else may vary, and will fall by the wayside as non-essential when the harvest comes; and we are measured by the Word of God, according to whether Christ is really in us.

Yeshua our Messiah told us, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.” (Jn. 14:6) We read that He is the Chief Cornerstone (Ps. 118:22, Is. 28:16), and that there is no Firm Foundation outside of Him (1 Cor. 3:11). He is the Door by which we enter the throne room (Jn. 10). He is the Word of God (Jn. 1:1), and without him nothing was created (Col. 1:16). He is the lamp which guides our feet, and lights our path (Ps. 119, 1 Jn. 1). He is the living water, and the bread of life (Jn. 4, 6). He is the Vine, which through belief we are grafted into (Jn. 15). He is our healer, and our king (Lk. 4:18, Matt. 27:11). He is the head of the body, and the servant washing our feet (Col. 1:18, Matt. 12:18). He is our redeemer, because his blood covers our sins (Tit. 2:14). He is God made Flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). He is Love, for “what greater love is there than to lay down one’s life for a friend?” (1 Jn. 4:8, Jn. 15:13) For though God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son, so that anyone who believes that he is their Messiah, and calls on his name can be saved (Jn. 3:16), Yeshua made that intentional choice to come for us. And he will return again (Jn. 14:3). He is patient, kind, humble, forgiving. He is not envious, prideful, boastful, ugly, selfish, or easily provoked. (1 Cor. 13) He never changes- he is the same past, present, and in future (Heb. 13:8). He is the beginning, and He is the end (Rev. 1:11). He never fails. He is the only way to Eternal Life. “And this is the witness of Elohim concerning His Son: That Elohim has given is everlasting life, and this life is in His Son. He who possesses the Son possesses life, he who does not possess the Son does not possess life…And the Son of Elohim has come and has given us an understanding, so that we might know the true One. And we are in the True One, in His Son Yeshua Messiah. This is the true Elohim, and eternal life.” 1 John 5:11-12, 20

You know, there are a lot of essential oils on the market. I’ve used many of them. But I have found a company, and a product, that is pure and unadulterated. It is the least diluted and highest quality I could find. And while I am deeply grateful for these Essential Oils, and what they’ve done for me; there is a savior who can do so much more, if I will just listen to Him, and let him be my guide rather than the teachings and interpretations of men. Because, I have found a God who does not lie. There’s no fine print in my covenant with Him. No false labels or perverted doctrines come from His lips. All I have to do is ask in belief without wavering, and he gives me what I need.

If He is not what you take away today; if he is not who you trust to forgive you, to save you, to lead you, to teach you, to be in relationship with you, really and truly, right now, then all the rest is for naught. I don’t have an oil for that. But I can tell you who does. Can you be honest with yourselves? Do you really know and accept what he’s done for you? Do you realize just how much you need him, and can’t do for yourself? Have you forgot? During this season in which we remember that YHWH wants to dwell with and in us, maybe we need to ask ourselves, “is the most essential oil running through my veins?”
